ISCM New Music Days 2018 selected work

My Ukuhamba kukufunda (To Travel is to learn) has been selected by NMSA as one of the six South African works submitted to the Beijing ISCM World New Music Days 2018.

Here’s a little extract from the recording Cardiff University Symphony Orchestra and Mark Eager did back in 2015 – it’s available (alongside two rediscovered Debussy scores and gorgeous Jolivet orchestral songs) on ASC Records & Prima Facie Records City of Light CD.

Performance materials available from Composers Edition (see home page).

Monodrama workshop

The year started off very energetically last week with the first workshop on my monodrama project. Working with two wonderful collaborators, South African baritone Njabulo Madlala and British opera director Ben Davis, we explored stories, characters and inspirations intensively for three days.

Watch out for news about the next stage in the project - another workshop developing the music and staging of the piece.
