For the 10th birthday of NewMusicSA, The Bow Project - an innovative commissioning project in which composers were asked to respond to and paraphrase traditional Xhosa bow songs - will go on a national South African tour with Madosini and a young ensemble from Denmark, the Nightingale String Quartet. Robert’s Libalel’ilanga will be performed alongside Madosini’s performances of traditional bow songs and new works by numerous South African composers, including Michael Blake, Jurgen Brauninger, Mokale Koapeng, Paul Hanmer, Andile Khumalo and Matteo Fargion. The project will also be recorded for commercial release at the end of the tour.
The opening concert of the tour is presented by the Nederburg Concert Series at the Manor House in Paarl.
