South African Music Day: Manhattan School of Music, New York

Four Colonizations will receive its US premiere as part of this celebratory day of South African music, presented at the Manhattan School of Music in New York.

The day will include: video conferencing between panels in New York and South Africa discussing new South African music; workshops on traditional instruments and musics with leading South African musician, Dizu Plaatjies; and concerts of a very broad range of South African musics - from traditional Zulu and Xhosa vocal music to contemporay music by some of the best-known South African composers, including Kevin Volans, Peter Klatzow, Hendrik Hofmeyr and Paul Hanmer.

This event is a must for anyone with an interest in musical and creative activity in South Africa and Africa in general.
